Summer Drum Club 2019

Billy Cunningham

July 16, 2019

Following the success of the Summer Drum Club last year the popular drum workshops are back this Summer for more drum fun sessions! The sessions this year are split into 2 weeks, the first week covering general drum topics and the second week dedicated to learning to record drums and create drum videos. This is available from age 7+ and absolute beginners are more than welcome.

So let’s look at the two weeks in more detail.

Week 1: Drum Concepts: 12–16 August

Week 1 is covering a broad range of essential drum skills including topics such as learning how to set up a drum kit, how to fix and undertake drum repairs and maintenance, learning groove patterns and drum fills, soloing, famous drummers, drum tuning, snare drum march, alternative beaters, samba, jazz and much more. You can select any particular topics you may have an interest in or would like to learn more about, or I can prepare the session for you.

Week 2: Recording Drums and Creating Drum Videos: 19–23 August

Week 2 is covering techniques in recording drums and how to make a drum cover video using Garageband and iMovie. Recording both audio and video is great fun to learn and is also a great learning tool to watch your drumming back and see if there is room for improvement in any particular areas.

See these video examples below of myself playing ‘Rock With You’ by Michael Jackson and Adam B playing ‘One Call Away’ by Charlie Puth.
